Two Iran shorts to vie in US

Two short films from Iran have led to a competitive career path toward the 7th edition of DC Web Fest in the US.

‘Starvation’ by Zahra Rostampour and ‘Balance’ by Barzan Rostami will compete in “Trailers & Shorts” category of the American film event.

'Balance' is an animated story about soldiers who sacrifice lives so that people may live in peace.

The animated piece attended various international screening events before, including 1st Adrian Int’l Film Festival in the US, 9th Kinolikbez Int’l Film Festival in Russia, Regina Int’l Film Festival and Awards in Canada, 2018 Full Bloom Film Festival (FBFF), 9th Ojai Film Festival and 5th Grand Rapids Comic-Con Film Festival both in the US.

'Balance' has been lauded at 2018 edition of the LakeCity Int’l Film Festival in India as well as the Sarajevo Youth Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It has also grabbed nod for best short animation at Redline International Film Festival in Canada.

‘Starvation’ is a 7-minute short animated film about stereotypes which cause misconceptions; and shows that the world leaders’ greed and corruption will bring nothing but poverty and starvation to the lower class of society.

The plot summery comes as “A hungry wolf gets stuck in stereotypes about being the big bad wolf of the story. She has to flee when everybody accuses her of violence and murder. She faces the danger of getting killed.”

With the mission to entertain, educate, and promote new and innovative forms of modern art, the DC Web Fest highlights the intersection of entertainment and technology, featuring the best of the indie spirit in digital content (Series, Games, VR/AR, Apps, Podcasts, etc.).

The event will be launched on April 12-13, 2019 in the US.
